in time with Harry Winston

It's safe to say that Harry Winston is one of the most exclusive, luxurious, and well-known jewelers in the world. The story, the romance, and the excitement associated with HW pieces is simply stellar. Most impressive, the brand continues to pioneer new techniques, new materials, and new looks while retaining their commitment to their heritage and mission.

Most recently, the House of Winston has been creating much buzz around their 'project Z' watch collection. In 2004, the project was started to create the most amazing, modern watch with classic inspiration and styling. ‘Z’ stands for Zalium, which is an aluminium and zirconium alloy. This material brings many favourable properties, including being incredibly lightweight, hypoallergenic, and producing a fabulous dark gray colour.

The Z6 collection might be my favourite of all the Z offerings and is limited to just 250 pieces. Sporty, utilitarian, and incredibly stunning - the watch features an alarm and an exclusive manual winding movement.
The open face is very modern and is composed of 18 levels offering a geometric composition of surfaces. Two off-centred dials intersect, with each featuring its day/night indicator. On the time dial, the hour and minute hands are joined by a disc in the form of a shuriken—known as a ‘throwing star’, hand-held blades used by Japanese Ninjas—on which the movement shows the seconds.

Now, for those who can't afford the hefty price tag associated with Harry Winston watches, the brand has created a fabulous application for both iPhone and iPod touch. The free product features a "virtual" HW watch for your screen! The application is available at both Harry Winston's main site and in the iTunes app. store.
